(Eureka), IL – Eureka High
School Principal Richard Wherley is pleased to announce that 15 Eureka High
School students have been recognized as 2013-14 Illinois State Scholars.
The prestigious award, given
annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), recognized
18,863 high school students from across the state as this year’s State

The Commission applauds their success and salutes their families and the teachers at Eureka High School on this achievement.”
While the prestigious
recognition does not include a monetary award, recipients are encouraged to
cite the honor on applications for college admission and scholarships in
addition to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
after January 1 to determine eligibility for federal and state aid, including
Illinois’ $387 million need-based Monetary Award Program (MAP).
“Each of the 15 Eureka High

EHS Marching Band at ISU Heroes Day
On Saturday, Novemebr 17, the EHS Marching Band participated in Heroes Day at ISU, and along with 30 other high school musicians, performed "Veterans Salute" at halftime with the ISU Big Red Marching Machine. Mr. Stalter was asked by Dr. Belongia to be the "honored guest conductor" for this event.
The BRMM kids were mentors to the high school students, and the kids got to experience a college Game Day, complete from marching to the stadium and whooping it up under the Main Street tunnel, playing for the tailgating crowd, and performing the service songs of all the branches of the military, honoring those in attendance who served or are currently serving.
Our kids enjoyed reconnecting with our alumni Evan, Caleb, Rachel, Derek, and Danielle who are in the BRMM.
