EHS Speech Team

The Eureka High School Speech and Drama Team opened its competitive season by capturing the 2nd place Small School Teams Sweepstake Trophy at the Tremont High School Individual Events tournament held on Saturday, November 6.


Making the big points for the team were Mark Crenshaw (son of David and Mary Anne Crenshaw of Eureka)—2nd place Radio, Mark Crenshaw & Erik Slingerland (son of Margo & William Slingerland of Goodfield)—4th place in Humorous Duet Acting, and Constance Moushon (daughter of Raymond & Catherine Moushon of Eureka)-4th place Radio Speaking. There were 14 schools participating in the tournament.

Jamie Wiegand (daughter of Wayne & Rosemary Wiegand of Secor) was tied for breaking into Poetry finals but lost on 1 speaker point and Colin Dewald and Corey Dewald (sons of Dennis & Amy Dewald of Eureka) were one place away from breaking into Duet finals.

Also new and competing with the team were freshmen Zach Harper (son of Kevin & Heather Harper of Eureka) in humorous interpretation and Nathan Sylvester (son of Brent & Maureen Sylvester of Eureka) in radio. Other team supporters included Amber Baer (daughter of Tim & Jenny Baer of Eureka), Brad Zehr (son of Stan & Julie Zehr of Eureka), and Ross Hettinger (son of Pete & Helen Hettinger of Eureka).
